brinewitchKani is an interesting beast. He really started getting into humanity around the 1920's, and has adopted the air and attitude of that era. He's never progressed very far out of it, nor does he seem interested in it. He dresses like an odd mishmash of 20's and Victorian style, he speaks like a Brooklynite, and many of his beliefs about humanity is based around that era with a few exceptions.
Exceptions being: Homosexuality is fine (as it's always been fine with fairies anyway, so this has never been a leap for him)
Gender doesn't matter (Some fairies are sexless, some men look like women, some women look like men, no one honestly cares)
Religion has never been important. (As a fairy aligned with neither the Seelie or Unseelie court, Kani has no particular god he's beholden to)
Sex is something that can be given freely, there is simply no such thing as whores. (he gives it freely without care to anyone he wants)
That being said, he still has some 20's beliefs, simply because he's never seen an issue with it. In his opinion, if you're poor, you can grow rich if you want. After all, he started from a penniless singer and worked his way up to star material. Why can't someone else? He doesn't understand the reason for welfare, SSI benefits, unions, OSHA or anything that protects workers.
This is simply because he has never experienced the need for it himself, and he's never had much to do with people that needed it either. He's been entirely coddled and taken care of by the upper class because of his super human abilities. He is not at all a hateful person who hates poor people, he's simply uneducated.
Likewise, he doesn't understand why being a chauvinist is hurtful. After all, he loves women dearly, and he just wants to make sure they don't get hurt. So they have to stay in places where they'll be safe, because like all human women, they must be naturally weak. They do no apply this logic to fairy women, as most fairy women could easily eat someone such as himself alive. After all, both courts are run by Queens and Queens alone.
He himself would never lay a finger on a woman, not even the woman who actually poisoned him and nearly murdered him where he lay. He'd never admit he was put in such a position by a woman, but rather than take revenge on her, like he would with a man, he simply left and avoided her. Kani does not enchant women to love him either, he considers it cheating and evil, though he sees no reason not to do the same to a man.
Again, men are supposed to be more powerful than a woman, so surely they could take the abuse, while a woman would obviously just crumble.
Unfortunately, with this sort of mindset, if he runs into a woman who disagrees with him, it's usually not a polite discourse. In fact, most of the time, they get angry, yell, and call him names, which does very little to change his mind. He just yells and calls names back, and everyone leaves angry.
However, if someone were to approach him with education in mind, he would be very willing to learn, as, like his element, he is always changing.
